Do I need a certified passport translation for a UK passport application?
Not every application requires the passport itself to be translated. However, HM Passport Office states that supporting documents not written in English or Welsh need certified translations. A foreign passport, ID page, stamp or visa may also need translating when it is specifically requested.
What counts as a certified translation?
A certified translation contains the translated text and written confirmation that it is a true and accurate translation of the original. GOV.UK guidance also says the certification should include the date of translation and the translator’s full name and contact details. Can you translate only the passport photo page?
